Evening with the youth

Well last night at our combined YM/YW activity we had the opportunity to listen to the Nye family speaking about choices and warning of the dangers of power lines. Here's the link to their story. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=1980753 I just want to take the opportunity to say how grateful I am for the gospel in my life and for the knowledge I have of the plan of salvation. I know that I will be with my family for eternity. That is the greatest blessing. Listening to their story, seeing their pain, but also their hope for the day they will be with their son again was very touching. I don't think there was a dry eye in the room. The spirit was so strong and even though the youth were quieter than usual there's no doubt that they too felt the amazing spirit that was there last night. I am so thankful for the opportunity to work with the youth. Sure there are times that I think why me, & I've even left a few activities in tears. I'm glad that I am ab

Kindergarten

Image
Monday was the first day of school (sort of). The kindergarten class came to school for 1 hr with their parents to see the class room & officially meet the teacher(whom I love!!) and get acquainted with the school. Then they have state testing that will happen this week and school will officially start on Tuesday Sept. 2. Here is Parker sitting at his cute little desk. He would not look at the camera. Parker with his buddy Brigham. Outside his classroom. He was getting sick of all the picture taking, and said, "mom stop it let's go." So tonight we were talking to him and preparing him for his testing tomorrow and he said that he was scared to talk to his teacher and he told Travis that he needed a blessing so that he wouldn't be scared at school. Why didn't we think about that? So before we put him to bed tonight Travis gave him a blessing. I just love the faith of a child, once the blessing was over Parker said now I won't be scared to talk to Mrs

Earmolds!

Well everyone that knows us knows that Parker has worn hearing aids from the time he was about 3 months old. He's done rather well with them, well let me restate that, from the time he was 3yrs old he has done really well with keeping them on all waking hours. So this last year in preschool Parker went to a combo class which had 5 kids with hearing loss and 8 regular preschool kids. All the girls that had hearing aids all had colorful earmolds. You need to understand that earmolds have to be replaced once the ear grows which when he was younger was quite frequent (about every 2-3 months). Since he's gotten older the earmolds have lasted longer about 5-6 months. So about 6 months ago we went to get new earmolds and Parker noticed that the audiologist had a picture on the wall of all the different colors you could get. Until this point I had always ordered clear less noticeable earmolds, but this time Parker decided that he wanted GREEN earmolds. I was hesitant but since he was

Davis County Fair

Image
Some friends of ours invited us to go to the Davis County Fair on Thursday. Here's Hannah & Parker. Here are all the kids waiting for the Pony Rides. (Ronni, Levi, Parker, Bailey &Hannah) Parker on the pony ride. Hannah on the Pony ride. Parker holding a snake. Hannah holding a snake. She was less scared than Parker which really surprised me. Hannah riding on a huge Turtle. Parker holding a Tarantula. Hannah had to give it a try too. We had so much fun at the Fair Thanks Holt's for inviting us. In fact we had so much fun that we went again on Friday night with my family (Mom, Dad, Angelee & kids & Us) Travis was more afraid of the Tarantula than either of the kids were. The man that was in charge of the booth walked away and came back with a Scorpion. Travis wouldn't even dare to hold it. What a Baby!! Parker milking a dairy goat. Hannah miking the goat. Travis having too much fun milking the goat. He was trying to hit my mom with the milk. We were ge

"1st Bee Sting"

Image
On Saturday afternoon Parker was outside playing and for the most part of this summer we haven't seen too many bees around, until this past week. Parker was out in the back yard playing and the next thing I hear is him screaming and banging on the back door. He then went on to tell me that he saw a bee and that he stepped on him and the bee hurt him. Sure enough the Bee had stung him on the bottom of his foot. I went to get something to clean his foot off and I found Parker taking a picture of his foot. He had to show everyone the picture of his Bee sting. The bee sting is right below his big toe. The funny thing about it is that after he took the picture he said it felt better. Who knew digital camera's had that kind of power.

Memory Post

I found this on a friends blogs, and thought it would be fun. The Memory Post. 1. As a comment on my blog, leave a memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember! If we're only blogging friends, write about a post that is the most memorable for you. 2. Next, if you feel so inclined, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. If you leave a memory about me, I'll be sure to write one about you...! 3. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. ☺ And please do this on your page, too, so we can all share in the fun times together. :) I love Comments!!!

Public transportation!

Image
Well I have to say that in my whole life I've never taken advantage of public transportation until this past month. I don't think that I am too good for it, Travis takes it on a daily basis. I think I was just afraid of it. So I had my sisters kids over on July 23rd (I know i'm really behind on posting). We wanted to go the the handcart days parade in bountiful with my mom. My car isn't big enough for me & 6 kids (my 2 & her 4) so I thought lets take an adventure on the UTA bus. The kids thought it was fun, it took longer to get the bountiful on the bus but we got there. The girls: Shaylee, Jaycee & Hannah The boys: Austin, Spencer & Parker Since that first bus excursion I have taken my kids into Salt Lake 2 times to go to the children's Museum and play in the fountains at Gateway. They still think the bus is the coolest thing ever and with gas prices what they are I'm liking the bus too, not enough to ride it everyday. At least I'm over m
